alright this post is for one of my other posts where i asked what kind of starter camera i should get i was told to go with a cheaper camera and spend more money on glass.
so what do you guys or gals like to take pictures with? i personally love fish eye and wide angle shots but i don't know much at all about any other lenses or filters Help?

My favorite is my new Canon 24-70 f2.8 L lens. Next ill get the 70-200 f2.8 L. It all depends on what your going to be shooting the most though.
I have the two lenses Jacob mentioned in my collection. Both are superb. The 24-70 is my "walking about" lens. I've also got the 17-40 f/4 L which is nice for landscapes. If I was buying now I'd get the 16-35 f/2.8 L
You really do get what you pay for with glass so if you're close to L budget, save up a little more and you won't regret it. Look at some of the forums out there with lens sample shots and see what you like.
One note of caution, on the two non L canon lenses I own, they've both been in for repair and one needs repairing again. I've used it 6 or 7 times so I am annoyed as it's out of warranty and I'll probably not buy another non L lens again. If I need budget I'll go Sigma.

Would you use your 16-35 then for all your landscapes? is 2.8 really needed for landscapes?
Also are you shooting with full frame or crop sensor because it makes a big difference on what lens to buy.
I think you really need to think about what you are going to be photographing most of the time before you decide on any lenses. What is your main area of interest?
The "invest in good glass, bodies will come and go" is a good rule of thumb to work to.
If you can, avoid EF-S lenses - I never thought I would own a camera they aren't compatible with but it is annoying to lose a lens when you buy a body that doesn't support EF-S.
I too am new here and brought my first camera yesterday a canon eos 1100d I really like long exposure at night will my 18 - 55mm standard lens do the job or do i ned to invest in something a little better id really like a wide angle lens.
